About this race
Race The Sun South Downs is a triathlon-style team multisport challenge taking place on 15 May 2027. Teams of two or four compete in a bike, hike, and paddle event, racing against the setting sun. All team members must complete each discipline, and the team's overall time is determined by its slowest member. Teams must stay together throughout the race. The event is based in Seaford, near Brighton. The first leg is a 24-mile off-road cycling route that begins with a significant climb out of Seaford before entering the open countryside. The second leg is a 10-mile trek/hike along the coast, heading towards Seaford Head and the white cliffs characteristic of this dramatic section of the South Coast. The final leg is a 2-mile paddle on the River Cuckmere. This event serves as a fundraiser for Action Medical Research, supporting vital research in the UK to help save and improve the lives of sick and vulnerable children. The multisport challenge consists of a 24-mile bike ride, a 10-mile hike, and a 2-mile paddle.
