Giro al Sas - Gara internazionale 2026

The Giro al Sas is a 10 km race held through the most evocative streets of Trento's historic center, conceived in 1907 to honor the city's patron saint, San Vigilio. The race, interrupted during the war, has continued uninterrupted since 1945. This important international event, which will celebrate its 79th edition on Saturday, September 26, 2026, has been won by some of the world's greatest long-distance athletes, including the Italian Stefano Baldini, as well as internationally renowned foreign athletes such as Paul Tergat, Kenenisa Bekele, Muktar Edris, and Jacob Kiplimo. It is an ancient and fascinating running race that unfolds on a one-kilometer circuit. After the first post-war period, the race was named "Giro al Sas" because the chosen route is the "city-wide" loop of the Trentino promenade known by that name and located between Via Roma, Via Oss Mazzurana, Via Mantova, and Via San Pietro. A highly spectacular loop to be repeated multiple times for all enthusiasts who follow the event live each year. The Giro al Sas has resumed its historic name thanks to the acquisition of the prestigious brand by Banca per il Trentino Alto Adige. In the early afternoon, the protagonists are the youngest. The races valid for the CSI provincial youth championships will start, followed by the magic of the Giro al Sas Kids, a non-competitive promotional event for children aged 2 to 8 to encourage them to practice sports. In the evening, a grand finale with the Giro al Sas dei campioni, the spectacular international race in which the world's best track and field specialists have competed for 78 years.
