The Kaga Spa Trail Endurance 100 Japan by UTMB® is a trail running event held in Kaga Spa Village, Ishikawa Prefecture, on Japan’s central coast. The start and finish are located at Yamanaka Onsen, a hot spring town with over 1,300 years of history. Participants can select from 20 km, 58 km, or 105 km distances, with the longest race designed for ultra-trail runners.
The course incorporates mountain paths, tracks, and some roads, with ITRA classifying the terrain as 60% paths, 25% tracks, and 15% roads. The route crosses ancient beech forests and follows ridgelines overlooking the onsen villages. Kaga Spa Village also covers Yamashiro Onsen and Katayamazu Onsen. Kanazawa Castle is accessible within an hour for those staying in the vicinity. As part of the by UTMB series, this event marks Japan’s first UTMB World Series race, intending to attract participants from both Japan and abroad.
