Blackwood Mineral Springs anchors the event, with runners starting and finishing by the springs on Golden Point Road before entering a trail run that has a very home-grown feel. The Berry Long Run began with three runners aiming to raise money for Berry Street. Its origin story still speaks volumes: "some getting lost, some bush-bashing and some injury," yet enough positive outcomes resulted that the "small fundraising event" endured. This event is suited for ultra runners who prefer their races a bit rough-edged and community-focused, including mandatory gear, a proper cutoff, and an expected fundraising page. There is also "Our short course option," not managed with strict road-marathon precision, which conveys the atmosphere: practical, friendly, and slightly self-deprecating. The tagline is simply "The love in."
