The Gran Fondo National Series is a U.S. road cycling series centered on gran fondo rides. These are mass-participation events on challenging courses, offering options for various ability levels. Its San Diego event takes place each April, adhering to the Italian gran fondo format with a mass start and four route choices instead of a single distance for all participants. The series introduced timed-segment competition to U.S. cycling events, allowing riders to race specific course sections while still experiencing the day as a long, supported ride. It also organizes the USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championship.
