Bridge to Bridge Ultra Marathon is a "point-to-point running event" designed for road-to-trail runners seeking genuine distance on stop-bank trails and gravel paths. The route follows the Waimakariri Gorge Bridge, Downs Road, Harrs Road, Waimakariri River Park, and Raven Quay along the river. The course "flows downstream toward the finish," which may sound easy until you consider how exposed wide open river trails feel when fatigue sets in. Expect "flat terrain and open river views," non-technical footing, and ample opportunity to find your rhythm instead of navigating difficult terrain. The finish is at Raven Quay. A practical local tradition is that it is held the day before the Bridge to Bridge Mountain Bike Race (North).
