The Lamington Classic Trail Run begins at O’Reilly’s guest house in Lamington National Park, Queensland. Runners traverse the park via The Border Track, heading to Binna Burra. The event spans a weekend, with the outward journey on Saturday morning and the return to O’Reilly’s on Sunday. This race, Australia’s oldest trail run since 1970, follows a route through sections of Lamington’s World Heritage rainforest. The standard crossing covers 21.3 km one way, measured by steel wheel from the official start to the official finish. Participants spend the night at Binna Burra before returning the following day, lending the event a mountain-weekend character rather than a typical start-finish race. A 42.195 km option is available on Saturday morning, commencing at Binna Burra approximately 400 metres into the forest to ensure the correct distance. Organisers advise caution with GPS readings beneath the forest canopy.
