Sobre esta carrera
Tour de GZM is a cycling ultramarathon based in Tarnowskie Góry. Riders can choose between 100 km, 200 km, or 390 km routes through the Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis. It takes place over a June weekend and is designed for extended time on the bike, though the shorter option is accessible for recreational cyclists. The event is organized by the Planeta Przygody Association and the Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis. This marks the third edition of the race.
The routes combine industrial sites, parks, reservoirs, towns, and river paths, avoiding a single terrain type. The 100 km course features the Segiet nature reserve, Repecki Park, Miasteczko Śląskie, Chechło-Nakło reservoir, Pyrzowice airport, Świerklaniec Park, Kozłowa Góra reservoir, ruins in Orzech, and finishes along Krakowska Street toward the Tarnowskie Góry market square. The 200 km route includes many of these points, adds Piekary Śląskie, and follows embankments along the Brynica river, which divides Upper Silesia from Zagłębie. Both the 100 km and 200 km routes pass a tailings heap, highlighted by organizers as a notable location. Final GPS tracks are provided to riders during the week of the event, emphasizing the importance of planning, with the precise route confirmed shortly before the start.
