Der Ruf der alten Mauern is a trail running and hiking event in Isenburg, Germany, focusing on castles, palaces, and navigation. The longest option, Der grosse Ruf der alten Mauern, covers approximately 90 km with about 2,400 meters of elevation gain. Shorter routes of roughly 25, 40, and 70 km are also available.
This event is not a marked point-to-point race. One day prior to the start, participants are given coordinates for several castles and palaces. They then select their own order, plan their route, visit each designated point, and return to the finish. All participants use GPS tracking, with electronic net time timing. Road crossings are not secured, and runners must provide their own food and drink during the course. Breakfast is provided before the start, and refreshments are available at the finish.
