O tomto preteku
Salt To Saint Relay is a 24-hour cycling relay across Utah, sending riders more than 420 miles from Salt Lake City to St. George each September. Cyclists start in the heart of Salt Lake City, just east of This Is the Place State Monument, then work south in relay shifts. Teams can race with 8, 4, 6, 5, or 12 riders, and solo riders can take on the full distance themselves.
For much of the route, riders follow historic Highway 89 through hills, mountains, and smaller Utah towns many participants would otherwise miss. The team format means riders, drivers, and support crews leapfrog down the course in vehicles, trading sleep for strategy as they try to reach St. George as fast as possible. Kanab is one of the towns where people can cheer riders through, and the long night on the road is part of the appeal: after 24 hours together, teams come away with bragging rights and plenty of inside jokes.
