Base 2 Space challenges runners and walkers to ascend 832 open-air steps within Seattle’s Space Needle, beginning at the base and concluding at the summit of the city’s iconic landmark. This yearly charity stair climb commences with waves starting early in the morning and accommodates individuals of all fitness levels, not exclusively competitive stair racers.
The course utilizes the Space Needle’s two exterior staircases, a portion of the tower seldom accessed by the public. As participants climb, they gain views of downtown Seattle, Mount Rainier, Lake Union, and the Puget Sound area. The event supports Fred Hutch Cancer Center and the Space Needle Foundation, having generated over $5.8 million for cancer research to date.
