Om dette løpet
The Karlsbader Volkslauf is a community running event in Langensteinbach, part of Karlsbad, Germany, organized by SVL Leichtathletik. It has been a fixture on local runners' calendars for over thirty years, offering 5 km and 10 km races for runners and walkers. Both main distances are described as hilly. The 5 km race is open to adults and young people, and the program also includes separate races for children.
The event attracts a significant school-age participation: over 800 entries were reported, with more than half in the youth races. These include the two-kilometer Sparkassen Schülerlauf and a 400-meter Bambinilauf for the youngest participants. Local school classes also join, and one student format allows participants to run multiple times with the same start number, with only their best time counted. Past events have seen large fields despite rain, and the 10 km race can be busy enough to create a long queue at start-number pickup.
