Austria Backyard 7+1 is a fixed-format backyard race in Kirchdorf in Tirol, Austria, run on the same loop as the Austria Backyard Ultra. It starts half an hour after the main Backyard Ultra so the two fields stay separate on the route and cannot help each other during their laps. Runners cover the first seven yards in normal backyard style, which adds up to a marathon, but those lap times do not affect the result. Everyone then runs one eighth and final yard, and the fastest runner on that last lap wins. The format changes the usual backyard idea: the early laps are about staying controlled, while the race is really decided by one hard closing lap.
