Over deze race
At the Tuttlinger Backyard Ultra, each runner has one hour to complete the same 6.706-kilometer loop before the next loop begins on the hour. The race is hosted at the Tuttlinger Sportfreunde clubhouse, located at Egelsee 1 in Tuttlingen, and is organized by Tuttlinger Sportfreunde e. V. 1965. This is a Backyard Ultra format: not a set-distance event, but a last-person-standing challenge where participants continue until they are unable to proceed. The loop distance is specific; 24 loops precisely equal 100 miles.
The quicker runners finish each loop, the more time they have to rest, refuel, adjust equipment, or recover before the next hourly start. This dynamic makes the race as much a test of pacing and sleep deprivation as of pure speed. Previous fields have varied from around 30 participants to about 80, with past top performances in Tuttlingen reaching 25 to 32 loops, covering approximately 167 to 215 kilometers. The event has established distinct women's and men's records, including a 32-loop men's achievement by Ray Qi from France and a 29-loop women's achievement by Magdalena Ewelina Sobieraj.
