Sandhills Flyers 5K

The Sandhills Flyers 5K, a 5 km trail run in North Carolina, begins on Sandhills Community College's Pinehurst campus in late September at 9:00 a.m. The course is officially USATF-certified, and chip timing is provided by Gate City Timing Company. Registration is $30, with a race shirt available for early registrants. The route starts on campus and continues through Southern Pines Reservoir Park, offering a campus start with nearby trails instead of a typical road loop. The event centers on the college community: SCC's Therapeutic Massage program offers pre- and post-race massages, the Early Childhood program hosts story time and children's activities, and Sandhills Flyers volleyball matches are scheduled after the run. Dogs are permitted, awards are given to the top three overall and age-group finishers, and finish-area amenities include fitness vendors, coffee, smoothies, custom cookies, and a 360-degree photo booth.
