The Greater Poland Hill Crown Half Marathon challenges the notion that Greater Poland is flat, offering runners a demanding trail experience. The half marathon course, covering 21.0975 km, traverses varied and hilly terrain, including morainic landscapes, forest paths, and sandy singletracks. It's a unique race where flat asphalt sections give way to natural obstacles, technical descents, and challenging climbs. After finishing, participants can explore the surroundings. Options include climbing observation towers like Dziewicza Góra (143m) near Poznań or Kobyla Góra (284m) in southern Greater Poland, which features the Millennium Cross. Romantic walks by lakes such as Lake Kowalskie or the Blewązka reservoir are also suggested. Visitors can also explore Gniezno, Poland's first capital, with its Lech Hill, the Primate Cathedral, and the Gniezno Doors. For post-race refueling, local specialties like 'pyry z gzikiem' (jacket potatoes with quark cheese), Greater Poland-style duck with 'kopytka' and red cabbage, or 'ślepe ryby' soup are recommended. Runners should prepare with trail shoes for a challenging cross-country race in the hills of Greater Poland.
