The Scott Sterrett Memorial Races begin and end at 200 State St. in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The morning schedule features a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and half marathon relay. Participants can register with or without a race shirt; a shirt-only option is available for those wishing to support the event. The longer races commence first, followed by the 10K and then the 5K, all within the same morning timeframe.
The series honors Scott Sterrett, a Cedar Falls reserve officer and dedicated runner who completed 23 marathons, including two Boston Marathons and multiple Chicago and Dallas Marathons. He passed away after battling pancreatic cancer. This event links his running passion with his community service. A portion of the proceeds supports scholarships for local seniors pursuing careers as first responders. Hero Bibs are a race tradition, directly connecting the day to the police, fire, EMS, and other service roles the event benefits.
