About this race

Fahrtoberfest Besterwurst 2026 is a fall cycling event hosted by the Chesapeake Cycling Club. The event celebrates the fall cycling season with a ride followed by food and drinks. For 2026, a new Swap, Sell & Giveaway event for cycling gear will be held. Participants can buy, sell, or trade used cycling equipment. The event takes place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Tuckahoe State Park, Cherry Pavilion, 13450 Cherry Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660. The ride begins at 10:00 AM. Two course options are available: the "Yellow Mustard" 32-mile course includes a 2.22-mile gravel segment, and the "Little Squirt" 28.1-mile course is entirely paved. Lunch and the Swap, Sell & Giveaway will be held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The menu includes seasonal beers, German pretzels with cheese sauce and mustard, grilled wursts (bratwursts, all-beef hotdogs, vegan stadium dogs) with rolls and fixings, German potato salad, soft drinks, water, and desserts. Participants may also bring their own beverages. The ride is rain or shine. Helmets are required, and headlights/taillights are strongly recommended. Riders should obey traffic laws and ride toward the right margin, as most roads have no shoulders. Road surfaces are generally hard-packed tar and chip. Caution is advised at intersections and turns. The cost for the ride is $25 per person, and registration is in advance only.
