About this race

The Alameda Island Running Festival starts and finishes at Alameda Point, near City Hall West, transforming the island into a multi-distance race weekend. Outfront Endurance presents it as three days of running with six distances. The main events include a half marathon, 10K, 5K run/walk, and a 1-mile family fun run. The event is chip timed and designed for all paces: participants can run, jog, or walk the entire course, and jogging strollers are permitted from the back of the field. The race area is located by the Health and Wellness expo on grass overlooking the Port of Oakland, providing the start-finish zone with a clear Alameda waterfront setting. Race director Steve Ashbaker, a lifelong Alameda resident and runner, focuses the event on showcasing local trails and venues. The festival also partners with Olympian Alysia Montaño’s Mover’s Co., the 5K is presented by Penumbra, and a portion of each registration supports the Alameda Education Foundation. It attracts approximately 1,000 to 5,000 participants, including families, walkers, and half-marathon runners.
