The IRONMAN triathlon event is back, and the municipality of Cascais is once again hosting one of the most demanding sporting competitions on the planet. IRONMAN Portugal-Cascais includes a 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling, and 42.2 km running race. The IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal-Cascais includes a 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling, and 21.1 km running race. The races start and finish at Cascais Bay, passing through the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, cycling through the mountainous interior, passing through Malveira, Serra de Sintra, and Lagoa Azul, towards the iconic Estoril Circuit. They then head towards Lisbon, where they make the return, passing by the Belém Tower, Discoveries Monument, and 25th of April Bridge.
