About this race
Mergelheuvelland 2-daagse, or Mh2d, is a two-day touring-bike and mountain-bike event in September in South Limburg and the Belgian Voerstreek. The MTB routes are designed for riders seeking a challenge: the shortest option is 35 km, with longer 50 km and 70 km routes. The organizers have set these routes largely apart to minimize interference between faster and slower groups.
The course is entirely different on Saturday and Sunday, with each day utilizing a distinct section of Limburg and the Voerstreek. This approach helps spread riders out and lessens the impact on local roads and villages. The riding takes place in rugged hill country, including some areas normally off-limits to mountain bikers, which have been opened for the event through agreements with nature and landscape management organizations. Recreational cyclists can opt for the shorter distance, while stronger riders can look forward to two days of climbing, technical terrain, and an opportunity to test their abilities in a region the organizers clearly have a passion for.
