About this race
The Backyard Ultra Last Samurai Standing - Hokkaido is a Japanese Backyard Ultra with a single rule: complete a 6,706-meter loop within an hour, then be ready for the next start. Any time remaining after finishing a loop is rest time; faster runners gain more recovery but must still begin the next loop at the same hourly mark.
The race employs a knockout format created by Lazarus Lake. All participants run the identical loop each hour. Anyone unable to finish before the hour concludes is eliminated. The event continues until only one runner remains, declared the winner as the last person capable of completing the loop within the hour.
