NORDISK Night and Day Trail sends runners onto the Marielundskoven trails twice: first on a Friday evening by headlamp, then again the next morning in daylight. The race is based in Kolding, with start and finish at Kolding Golfklub. Runners choose 7 km, 14 km, or 21 km for the night run, the day run, or both. All night distances start at 8:45 PM, and all day distances start at 9:00 AM.
The course uses singletrack and forest trails, so the same route should feel different when it is dark, narrow, and headlamp-lit compared with the daylight run the next day. Runners who double up can cover anything from a short two-race weekend to a full marathon distance across the two starts. There is also a 7 km CrossFit Challenge, where participants run with a weight vest or backpack: 6 kg for women and 9 kg for men, with checks at the start and finish. The aid station sits in the start area, passed once by 14 km runners and twice by 21 km runners. Finishers get a medal designed to connect with the Day Trail medal if they run both events.
