About this race

The Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 48-Hour Run Kladno is an ultrarunning event featuring 24- and 48-hour races on a one-kilometer loop at Sletiště in Kladno, Czech Republic. This event, organized by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in the Czech Republic, takes place on the last weekend of June and stands as their longest and largest ultra competition. The concept is straightforward: participants continuously circle the same short course for one or two full days, aiming to accumulate the greatest distance possible while contending with weather, exhaustion, nutrition, rest, and the psychological challenge of repetitive circuits. The race attracts competitors from around the globe, with 105 runners from 10 nations noted in the source. During one edition, the collective distance covered by all participants from Friday to Sunday exceeded 17,000 km, approximating the distance from Kladno to New Zealand. Daniel Trusca of Romania achieved 370.121 km in the 48-hour race, establishing a Romanian national record. Radka Churaňová set Czech records for both 12 and 24 hours, reaching 140.367 km at the 12-hour mark and a total of 251.498 km by the end of 24 hours. The participant pool includes athletes beyond their peak years: Germany’s Edda Bauer completed 235 km in the 48-hour race at age 75, setting a record, and Czech ultrarunner Radek Brunner is also associated with the event.
