Marathon de Pleven

Marathon de Pleven is a road race in Pleven, Bulgaria, beginning and ending on the city's main square. It typically takes place in May and offers participants several options: a full 42.2 km marathon, a 21.1 km half marathon, a 10.55 km race, a two-person relay with 10.55 km legs, a 3 km mass run, and short Fun Run distances for children. The course combines city streets, park paths, and open roads surrounding Pleven, passing through Kaylaka park and historical locations connected to Bulgaria's struggle for independence. Participants will see sites like the Romanian soldiers' museum in Griviza, the Grivitza Romanian soldiers monument, and the bridge near Yassen village associated with Osman Pasha's sword surrender. The event also includes a community aspect: runners aged 60 and over, and individuals with disabilities, can participate without charge. Its charitable aim is to fund a medical student scholarship via the BCause Foundation's Get Ready to Succeed program.
