About this race
The Houtlandtrail offers four different distances ranging from 18 to 50 km, guiding participants through a selective course in the Bruges Ommeland. The route passes through private castle domains, parks, and nature reserves such as Domein Beisbroek, Domein Tudor, Priorij of OLV Bethanie, and Abdij Zevenkerken. The region is characterized by pollard willows, hedgerows, chessboard-patterned avenues, and numerous castle parks, making it the most wooded region in West Flanders. The trail promises a rich natural experience for hikers, with unique landscapes, ample refreshment zones at the start, along the way, and at the finish, and a special souvenir for those who complete the course. The event emphasizes nature, castles, and tranquility, with Domein Beisbroek, Domein Tudor, and Chartruzzebossen serving as green lungs for participants.
