TCS Lidingöloppet (Lidingöloppshelgen)

TCS Lidingöloppet is a cross-country running weekend on Lidingö island in Sweden, held on the last weekend of September. It is the world's largest cross-country race, with over 30,000 runners usually gathering for the event. The classic distance is 30 km, but Lidingöloppshelgen also includes 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km races, plus toddler races of 1.7 km, catering to serious competitors, club runners, families, and first-timers. The race starts around Lidingövallen and sends runners onto forest trails rather than a road course with some dirt. The ground is soft underfoot, and the hilly sections demand effort even when the pace feels controlled. The forest, climbs, and trail rhythm define the race's character, while the crowd size creates a busy running festival without losing the cross-country atmosphere. The Sports Fair is also part of the routine: runners pick up bibs there, meet exhibitors, and get last-minute race information before heading out to run.
