The Kick Out Mesothelioma 5-Miler begins at Cutter Street and Eastern Promenade in Portland, Maine, finishing near Sewage Treatment Plant Road and Marginal Way. This November event, now in its [edition count, if known, otherwise omit] year, features a five-mile race and a 2.5-mile walk, allowing participants to support the same cause via different routes. The 5-miler starts at 10 AM; walkers begin upon arrival.
The walk starts and finishes at the Bayside Trail Entrance, offering a simpler route than the point-to-point race. This event honors John W. Griffin, a pipefitter, Navy veteran, and City Councilor who passed away following a brief cancer diagnosis that included mesothelioma. Proceeds benefit mesothelioma research. Packet pickup is at Marathon Sports on Marginal Way. Tony Myatt directs the event, with Pine Tree Race Services providing timing.
