HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon

The HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon is a trail half marathon in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, starting and finishing near Rock Canyon School Park. This is its fifteenth year, offering runners a backcountry-style course while remaining close to suburban services. The event is designed for trail runners and maintains a family-friendly atmosphere on race day. The course begins on the Highlands Ranch backcountry trails, crosses Grigs Road near mile 1.65, and follows a winding, looping route. Runners return toward the finish area along Grigs Road around mile 8, pass Daniels Gate Park, turn onto Monarch Boulevard, and then make the final approach. Finishers receive a medal, and the post-race includes pancakes and beer for those of legal drinking age.
