Om dette løb
The Cades Cove Loop Lope is the only organized footrace within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Runners use Cades Cove Loop Road, which is briefly closed to vehicles for the event. This fall race offers two distances: a 5K or a USATF Certified 10-mile loop. Entry is limited to approximately 750 to 800 participants, parking passes are restricted, and the race typically sells out rapidly.
The course crosses Cades Cove, a well-known park valley. The 10-mile option follows the entire loop, while the 5K provides a shorter route within the same event. Participants travel from numerous states, and the field includes both runners and walkers, not exclusively competitive racers. Proceeds benefit Friends of the Smokies, supporting park initiatives like historic preservation, wildlife conservation, and native plant and grassland restoration. A virtual option is available for those unable to secure a spot or travel, with a shirt and medal sent by mail.
