The Plainfield Harvest Run takes place on a fall morning at Village Green Park in Plainfield, Illinois. It features a Kids Miler, a 5K run/walk, and a 10K run. The Kids Miler begins at 8:30 AM for children ages 4 to 12. The 5K and 10K start at 9:15 AM. The Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce organizes the event, which typically attracts 800 to 900 participants. This is Plainfield's oldest race, now in its 28th year.
The start line is at Fox River and Ottawa Streets, with race activities centered at Village Green Park. Vendors and sponsors are present in the park before the race. The 10K has a 1 hour 15 minute cutoff, intended for runners maintaining a consistent pace. The race also serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds supporting nonprofits and organizations in Plainfield and nearby communities. Over its history, more than $400,000 has been donated. Following the awards ceremony, runners can go to Sovereign in downtown Plainfield for the post-race gathering, which includes a complimentary drink and food item, while supplies last.
