The Great Half Antwerpen is a flat half marathon on Antwerp’s Linkeroever, the left bank of the Scheldt, with the city skyline visible for much of the run. It takes place in September on an officially measured 21.0975 km course, starting and finishing on Thonetlaan near the pedestrian tunnel. The race is designed for runners seeking a quick half: paved roads, minimal climbing, fast sections, and a 3-hour time limit.
The route runs mostly through green areas while keeping Antwerp, the “City of Cookies,” in sight across the water. It attracts runners aiming for a personal best, individuals using it as a fall-marathon tune-up, and participants who appreciate the event’s rock-and-running theme. There are four aid stations, electronic timing, guarded bag drop, pacers provided by Nike, medals, finish refreshments, and an event village adjacent to the start and finish.
