The Rooted Acres Endurance Race is a timed trail event held at Rooted Acres in Woodbine, New Jersey, each November. It offers 6-, 12-, and 24-hour solo divisions. Teams of two to four can participate in 12- or 24-hour relays. This format accommodates runners aiming for significant personal mileage and groups dividing the effort across a long day or overnight.
The course consists of a 5.5-mile dirt loop with minimal roots. The objective is to finish as many full laps as possible before the time limit expires. Each lap is officially recorded only when the runner crosses the timing mat at the start/finish line; any lap not completed when time runs out does not count. Participants may rest for any duration between laps, incorporating pacing, nutrition, warming up, and strategic decisions about returning to the course into their race plan. The venue provides a camp-like atmosphere, including tent camping, discounted cabins and yurts, showers, a sauna, a cold plunge pool, fire pits, and a communal kitchen. The property is adjacent to Belleplain State Park and is a short drive from the Cape May Zoo, offering nearby trails, a lake, gardens, and wildlife for accompanying family or friends.
