Lake Maggiore Marathon

Lake Maggiore Marathon sends runners from the Arona lakeside to Pallanza on a 42 km road course beside Lake Maggiore. The main marathon and half marathon start on Sunday morning from Arona, with a 33 km race leaving from the same lakeside area shortly after and a 10 km race starting later from Fondotoce near the entrance to Camping Isolino. The route follows the lake and crosses the Borromean Gulf, so the water and surrounding towns are part of the race from start to finish. Entry caps keep the fields fairly modest: 900 places for the marathon, 1,400 for the half, 500 for the 33 km, and 700 for the 10 km. The race weekend is centered around the event village in Arona, open Friday and Saturday, while the awards are held on the lakefront in Verbania Pallanza.
