The Behobia-San Sebastián is a 20 km road race held in Spain’s Basque Country. It begins in Behobia, a district of Irun, and concludes on the Boulevard in Donostia-San Sebastián. While shorter than a half marathon and not officially homologated, the 20 km distance is integral to the race’s character. CD Fortuna KE is the organizer, and the event accommodates a large field, with up to 27,000 participants accepted from age 16 and older.
The course connects the border town of Behobia to the capital of Gipuzkoa, finishing downtown in San Sebastián as the Boulevard fills with runners annually. The route features city streets, parkland, and approximately 226 meters of elevation gain, making it more than a simple flat race. With over a century of tradition, the race draws significant interest, leading to a lottery system for general registration. Entry into the draw costs 1 euro, with proceeds benefiting partner charities.
