The Herbstwaldlauf in Bottrop is a 50 km ultramarathon in Germany, run in November as an autumn forest race. It is a road race in the ultramarathon sense, but the route uses wide forest and farm paths rather than city streets. The start is at the Dieter Renz Halle in Bottrop, and runners have 6.5 hours to finish. Adler-Langlauf Bottrop e. V. organizes the event.
The course consists of four flat laps of 12.5 km, with each lap passing through woodland and by a lake. This structure allows runners to pace themselves, encounter the same aid points multiple times, and track their progress. Field sizes have varied from about sixty finishers to several hundred, attracting club runners and local ultramarathon regulars rather than a large field. Dominik Schüßler achieved a standout performance, winning the 50 km in 3:23:05 and setting a new club record.
